Heartland Bank is no stranger to celebrations, and we’ve had two big ones this year! It all started with a mid-year Billion Dollar Bash in the fall, and then on Saturday, December 8, the Heartland Bank family gathered at the Hilton Columbus at Easton for the 22nd Annual Silent Auction and Holiday Celebration. Proceeds from the event are donated to several local charities.
The associates receive a nostalgic dinnertime spread, complete with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and desert - an annual favorite dating back to the request of the bank’s founder, Tiney McComb - and live music after dinner provided by Soul Kitch’n. The associates in turn embrace their giving side with the opportunity to bid on silent auction items collected as donations by the Heartland Holiday Party Committee. This year, a small raffle-type auction was also included with the benefits from selling raffle tickets going to the college fund for the daughter of an associate who was lost this year to cancer. $1,970 was donated by Heartland associates to the college fund for Marcus McKeehan’s daughter.
Fourteen local charities, suggested by associates of each branch office, receive a portion of the proceeds from the silent auction. This year, thanks to the generosity of local businesses, clients and Heartland associates, $7,300.00 was raised with over $92,000 donated since 1996 when the auction was added as a feature of the annual party.
Central Ohio’s community bank is proud to continue the tradition each holiday season of giving back to the communities we serve. The charities supported this year are listed below. Each charity will receive just around $500 each. If you’re interested in supporting any of these charities, please feel free to visit their websites for more information:
