Heartland Bank Recognized by NAACP for Back to School, Stay in School Support

Heartland Bank was recently honored by the NAACP for their involvement in the Back to School, Stay in School Program. Heartland’s series of financial literacy workshops in schools and communities centers for families participating in the Back to School, Stay in School Program help to reinforce the values of this great program, and was one of the reasons for the bank being selected for this award.

Presenting the award to the Heartland’s President & CEO, G. Scott McComb are Noel Williams, President and Tashia McMullin, CFO of the Columbus Ohio Branch of the NAACP.

The NAACP’s Back to School, Stay in School program is all about preparing, inspiring and instructing youth of all ages with the tools necessary to graduate high school. This national program was founded in 1984, and is composed of more than 30 sites located at churches, schools and community centers across the nation.

Starting in elementary school, the program offers support through graduation and aims to enhance student success by reducing the absenteeism and dropout rate, providing a higher level of academic and cultural enrichment. It also seeks to increase parental involvement and improve overall perceptions about public schools.
