Celebrating the Holidays at Heartland

Celebrating the Holidays at Heartland

Tuesday, December 19, 2023/Categories: Community, Home Page Story

During the holiday season, the Heartland Bank family celebrates throughout the month with associate lunches, ugly sweater day, a silent auction and a holiday party that has been a tradition for over 30 years. Sharing and caring about each other is part of the Heartland culture, making the season one for reverence, thankfulness and celebration.

Holiday Party and Holiday Dinner

The annual Columbus Heartland holiday party was held at the Hilton Columbus at Easton this year and Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos was the entertainment. Tradition is part of the culture at Heartland, and the founder, Tiney McComb, was adamant about following tradition to honor the past and prepare for the future. Scott McComb, President and CEO, carries on this tradition annually as a thank you to the dedicated staff.

The Greater Cincinnati associates celebrated the holiday season with an evening at Walt’s Hitching Post in Fort Wright, Kentucky. Attendees shared a meal and participated in a raffle. Team members from Columbus traveled to Cincinnati to share in the evening.

Silent Auction Update

To show appreciation for the communities served, Heartland organizes a silent auction for associates to benefit local nonprofit organizations in conjunction with its annual holiday party. Clients and associates donate items that are then transformed into enticing packages for bids. In its beginning years, the auction was held during the holiday party. With the advancement of technology and mobile devices, the auction is now offered to associates via a mobile app so that all associates can participate – even those in Greater Cincinnati and those not attending the party.

This year, over $8,000 was raised via the auction to support local charities through the Heartland Bank Community Foundation, Heartland Bank’s 501(c)(3). One fortunate, associate-referred nonprofit was chosen to receive an immediate grant of $2,000 from the Foundation – the Open Shelter! Giving back to the communities has been a time-honored tradition at Heartland Bank, and one that shows appreciation for others during the holiday season. $128,000 has been donated to local charities since the inception of the annual silent auction.

U.G.L.Y.

Ugly sweater day was held on December 15th. Associates who wore their “ugly” Christmas sweaters were then entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize organized by the Heartland Engagement Committee. Teams were encouraged to take pictures in the Heartland selfie booth in the café at the HBCC.

How ever YOU celebrate the holiday season, we wish you peace, joy and happiness. If you’d like to bank with a community bank that celebrates its communities and associates, stop into any of our locations or learn more about us online. We’d love to be your community bank!
