A Resolution to Make a Resolution

A Resolution to Make a Resolution

Thursday, January 11, 2024/Categories: Home Page Story

We’ve made it to 2024! Do you find yourself wanting to make a few resolutions but figure you’re too late to the game? Or are resolutions part of your January to-do list, and now you’re making a resolution to actually commit to your resolutions in maybe February or even March?

In the banking world, it is never too late to make financial resolutions. Heartland bankers understand that winter procrastinations can lead to a summer slump in savings due to forgotten resolutions. Only you can start the process, but we’re here to help!

BUDGET 101

It is literally not rocket science. A budget simply shows how much money you earn versus how much money you spend based on a timeframe – for instance, monthly. If you spend more than you earn per month, you are relying on credit, a family inheritance or possibly savings built up over time to cover the overage. If you earn more than you spend monthly, you are probably saving or investing your surplus. Ultimately, your budget is a plan that can be adjusted and monitored so you can spend less than you earn.

No matter if your budget is on target or you fall short each month, Heartland Bank has tools to help you evaluate your financial position. Visit the Learning Center to start the process of setting goals, determining what emergency funds you need, calculating your net worth, recording your expenses and finalizing by involving your family and their opinions and ideas. Be sure to check out the worksheets that will guide the process and provide a deeper understanding in written form.

Now, make those resolutions based on your financial facts and stick to them! Your savings account will thank you, and you’ll be glad you took the time to work through the numbers.
