This Month's Employee Spotlight - Nancy Matney

Sunday, August 7, 2016/Categories: Employee Spotlight

This month’s Employee Spotlight features another effective leader and respected colleague of the Heartland Bank team, our AVP, Client Services Manager, Nancy Matney. She’s a Columbus native and attended high school locally at Bishop Hartley before graduating from Ohio Dominican with a degree in Business Administration. As a devoted seven year Heartland employee, she has also been involved with local community events, school district fund raising efforts and the Gahanna Relay for Life organization which supports the American Cancer Society.

As the Client Services Manager, Nancy and her team deliver a positive customer experience for our retail and corporate clients. Not only do they respond to all client inquiries that come in via phone, e-mail or live chat, they also work with clients to set-up their online services (eStatements, BillPay, Online Banking and Mobile). In addition to being a member of the Quality Committee and the Marketing Committee, she’s looking forward to contributing to the new ‘website redesign’ project for HeartlandBank.com.

In addition, Nancy works closely with our Commercial Relationship Managers on setting up Treasury Management programs for our corporate clients, including products such as ACH/Cash Management, Remote Deposit Capture, Positive Pay, Merchant Services and Business Credit Cards.

Nancy was proud to be presented with the Quality and Excellence award in September of 2009. The award has been a tradition at Heartland Bank since 1994 and many of our employees proudly wear the associated pin each day to signify this honor. Employees receiving this award are chosen based on excellent customer service, being an example of a team player, helping other employees and exceeding the expectations of their job duties and responsibilities. To Nancy, it means focusing on how to make sure we have the necessary tools in place to meet the banking needs of all our clients; following up in a timely manner when required; and always looking at how to improve the client experience.

Heartland Bank Chairman, President and CEO Scott McComb said, “Nancy's excellent customer service skills and her in-depth knowledge of our cash management and Internet banking systems, makes her extremely effective as the leader of our client service center and for our bankers to leverage technology for our clients.”

When asked what she would tell potential clients about Heartland Bank, she said, “We really take pride in listening to our clients and many of their suggestions are reviewed during our monthly Quality Committee meeting. We believe in community involvement and focus on creating a personal client relationship regardless if it is with consumers or large business partners.”

On a personal side, she’s the proud mom of two outstanding young adults and she looks forward to the time when she and her husband can start traveling a little more. The family attended their first Ohio State Bowl game this last winter and followed their beloved Buckeyes to the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix. Not only is she an avid sports fan (football, basketball, Crew soccer, golf and baseball), but she enjoys both running and spinning AND starts many a morning at a 5:45 a.m. exercise boot camp.

It’s bankers like Nancy Matney that allow Heartland Bank to give such great customer service, day in and day out.
