Nice to meet you, Gina Carfagna!

Heartland Bank strives to create a culture and atmosphere that will attract talent and inspire associate retention. With a “family” atmosphere gained honestly as the helm has passed from father, Tiney McComb, to son and current president/CEO, Scott McComb, the bank is proud that its associates recognize this and value the camaraderie it creates. “I tell people all the time that we are like family at Heartland,” shared Gina Carfagna, mortgage banker at Heartland Bank.

Before she even started her career at Heartland, Gina was introduced to this “family” atmosphere by another Heartland associate. “I was honestly shocked when I realized how true it is,” she admitted. “I was taken aback when Scott McComb stopped by my desk within the first few weeks I worked here to say ‘Hi.’  We take pride in treating our clients the same way. Without them, there is no us.”

As a mortgage banker, Gina’s job depends on relationships. “My responsibilities are to work with our clients to find the best options for them to either purchase or refinance a home. It is my job to offer the best client experience that I can provide.” Gina starts each new relationship with this commitment, thus building confidence and establishing clear communication channels. She prides herself on the ability to be present, understand her client’s needs and guide each individual/family through this very monumental step in their lives.

Gina additionally stands by the Quality and Excellence principles that guide each of the bank’s associates. “Quality and Excellence means doing what is right when no one is watching.  Whether it is with a client or co-worker, it’s my duty to do what is right and best for them. It’s giving 100% of effort to what we do on a daily basis,” said Gina. She doesn’t take this responsibility lightly – evidenced by her own commitment to family and the realization that so much life happens within the walls of a family’s home.

Referring to her achievements, Gina shared, “I am proud to have been rewarded with the Platinum Award from Columbus Mortgage Bankers Association three years after starting in this business. I am also proud that I have also achieved Administrative Officer status and received the Quality and Excellence award and several Circle of Champions awards.” As her career at Heartland is on a very successful path, she hopes to maintain her trajectory while balancing her home life. With a husband and two teenage boys, Gina has become an expert at making all the pieces fit between her professional and personal life.

“I volunteer for Westerville South Boys soccer team. I help coordinate team dinners and banquets and have been working with the program since 2017. Prior to this, I volunteered for the teaching staff at Hawthorne Elementary from 2006 - 2018. I essentially helped the staff with whatever was needed from making copies to tutoring to assisting students with testing. I was awarded the Great Educator Mentor Award (GEM Award) from Westerville schools in 2017 for making a positive impact. Additionally, I volunteered at Clintonville Resource Center from 2015-2020. We prepared and served meals to those in need.”

Gina does also make time for some outside interests of her own. Besides loving to cook, she enjoys gardening, traveling with her boys for soccer and hanging out by the pool. “The more sun the better!”
