Prior to starting MCR Services in 1995, Wade Hungerford spent over a decade as a laborer, cabinet maker, Project Superintendent, Project Controls Manager, and Pre-construction Manager. These roles were mastered during the day while he attended classes at Columbus State Community College and Capital University at night. Talk about working your way up the corporate ladder….
After years of working for other people, Wade finally took the leap of faith to start MCR Services, Inc. Twenty years later, Wade now serves as the President and CEO (and sole proprietor) and is responsible for overseeing all operations.
Headquartered in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood, MCR Services, Inc. (which stands for Manage, Construct and Renovate) has become a leading self-performing general contractor in central Ohio. They work on a variety of commercial and residential projects with a strong focus on renovation.
Since day one, MCR has invested heavily in its technical systems, including its own applications, but is most proud of the service-minded, dedicated team that still believes in the “service model” of client care. They must be doing something right, as 80% of their business comes from repeat clients.
Wade is proud to serve Heartland Bank as a member of the Ambassadors, a group that serves as goodwill advocates while providing a connection between the bank and the community. According to McComb, “The Heartland Ambassadors are our eyes and ears in the community. They tell us how we’re doing as a financial institution and community partner, as well as inform us of new opportunities where we can be of assistance and grow relationships. This group is a very valuable resource that we rely on to conduct our business planning.”
Wade and Scott McComb crossed paths a few times in the mid-90s. Eventually, Wade turned to Heartland when he needed a bank with a partnership model. “I am very thankful for my relationship with Heartland Bank” states Hungerford.
