Starting her career as a “teller” at the Heartland Bank Grove City office, Kim currently calls the Corporate office in Whitehall her work home and is not shy when sharing her thoughts on the atmosphere, “New Heartland associates should get to know the history of the organization and how we came to be so that they understand how blessed they are to be part of that culture.”
Kim is a member of the Commercial Lending team, and her primary responsibilities include configuring construction draws and swap payments; preparing participation, swap and construction loans; and providing management support/consultation. “I am proud of all my many achievements during my tenure at Heartland Bank, but I am extremely proud that after 6 months in a new lending support role, my organizational skills greatly improved the functions of the position I assumed. I was also blessed to be a part of the opening of our Westerville Branch. At the event, we handed out a lot of bread, not money, but real bread – free dough! Additionally, I helped facilitate the consolidation of the commercial loan processors into a single department.”
Nearing her 20-year mark, Kim hopes to pass along what knowledge she has gained to her peers over the remaining years of her career at Heartland. Her insights are grounded in her commitment to Quality and Excellence as she was awarded this prestigious distinction in November of 1999. This Heartland Bank award is given to team members who have displayed outstanding qualities in their daily work. Recipients are nominated solely by their fellow associates. “Quality and Excellence to me is not doing just enough to get by but doing more than expected or required. We came from humble beginnings, and through quality and excellence, have grown into the billion-dollar organization we are today.”
Kim values her co-workers and shares, “Heartland associates are friendly, helpful and caring people. Come to work ready to work and give your best. Support and encourage each other. It will come back to you.” She recognizes the people factor, not only with her co-workers, but also from the side of the Heartland Bank associate, “Customers should choose Heartland over the other banks because we really do care about them. We care about their businesses and their families. We support our communities where we're planted and grow with them.”
Heartland values family and encourages a work/life balance to allow associates to be well-rounded individuals in the workplace and in their home-space. Kim can often be found volunteering at Heartland events in the community, but her first loves are her family and traveling. When asked about the future, Kim said, “My future, personal goals are to continue to love and support my family and to travel when I get the opportunity. I love to travel, whether to another state or another city.” She can’t go too far for too long though, as her cats are her third love.
Just as Kim loves Heartland, her family, travel and her cats, we want you to love your bank. Come on over to Heartland where you’ll fall in love with your banking relationship!
