This month’s Employee Spotlight features Rich Weber, an effective leader and respected colleague that supports employee growth initiatives in his job as AVP, Retail Support Manager. He began his career as an Assistant Manager of the Dublin branch in 2004, and was hired by the bank’s founder, Tiney McComb. Over the last 12 years, Rich has learned the ins and outs of every retail position offered at Heartland and even boasts that he “was a Universal Banker before we had Universal Bankers!”
As the lead member of the Retail Support staff, Rich enjoys the diversity of his work day where he sometimes stands in for managers and assistant managers across all 13 central Ohio branch offices. When acting in a Branch Manager’s role, he opens new accounts, initiates consumer loans, and coaches employees. Additionally, he’s the backup for IRA and HSA accounts in the Branch Support department and helps managers, assistant managers and Universal Bankers by conducting two day ‘new account’ training programs.
According to Scott McComb, CEO, “Rich Weber is the model Heartland Community Banker. He is so good, we can ask him to serve in almost any capacity and he consistently hits it out of the park. We're really lucky to have him as part of the Heartland family.”
Rich was proud to be presented with the Quality and Excellence award in March of 2006. The award has been a tradition at Heartland Bank since 1994 and many of our employees proudly wear the associated pin each day to signify this honor. Employees receiving this award are chosen based on excellent customer service, being an example of a team player, helping other employees and exceeding the expectations of their job duties and responsibilities. To Rich, it means listening to the customer’s needs, confirming your understanding of what they want, and then accurately setting up the best product or services to meet their desires. It also means thinking ahead to any issues that many arise and taking action to help the customer avoid those issues before they occur.
Rich is a fourth generation Dublinite and is proud to support several community organizations in his hometown, including Dublin A.M. Rotary, Dublin Education Foundation, Dublin City Schools, Dublin Historical Society, Dublin Chamber of Commerce and as a volunteer for the last 11 years of the Dublin Irish Festival. Based on his commitment to service within his community, he was even selected as the Grand Leprechaun and led the St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Dublin in 2012. Rich also just received the prestigious Philanthropy Award at last month’s annual Heartland Bank Charity Golf Classic, given to an individual that is dedicated to service in their community. The golf committee, and CEO Scott McComb, was very proud to present the award to Rich this year and enjoyed having his family join the festivities following the golf outing.
It’s people like Rich that allow Heartland Bank to give such first class customer service day in and day out. Check us out! You’ll be glad you did!
