Employee Spotlight on Chuck Woodson

Photo of Chuck Woodson and FamilyThis month’s Employee Spotlight features Westerville’s Branch Manager, Assistant Vice President Chuck Woodson. A proud native of St. Louis and die hard Cardinals baseball fan (just ask to see the license plate on his car!), he even had the opportunity to play Legion baseball while studying business at Florida State University. He’s celebrating his fourth year at Heartland after a brief hiatus in the great state of Arizona.

As a branch manager, his responsibilities involve daily operations as well as supervising and developing his employees, mortgage lending/underwriting, consumer lending and outside business development. “With exceptional and personalized service, our employees set us apart from other banks because we genuinely care about each and every one of our customers,” Chuck said. He is looking forward to the second year of a three year graduate program at the Barret School of Banking in Memphis, a program that provides professional development opportunities for Heartland Bankers that have shown a deep commitment to their careers.

Not only is Chuck busy with his ‘day job’, he also volunteers time outside the office with many local Westerville community organizations. In addition to serving as a board member and volunteer with the Westerville Visitors and Convention Bureau for the last six years, in 2015 and 2016, he served as the Chairman of the city’s annual Music & Arts Festival, presented by the Westerville Chamber of Commerce, a one-weekend event that draws 14,000+ to Heritage Park. “Working with city leaders and hundreds of volunteers from the community was an incredible experience. I was chosen to chair the event due to my involvement and dedication to the growth and success of the City of Westerville. In its 43rd year, the 2016 Music & Arts Festival was the largest to date,” he said.

Additionally, Chuck was just appointed to the 14-member Main Street Board, a local advisory group that works to support the Ohio Main Street Program, administered by Heritage Ohio, which works with communities across the state to revitalize their historic or traditional commercial areas. According to Janet Davis, President and CEO of the Westerville Chamber of Commerce, “Chuck is full of enthusiasm.  When he accepts a responsibility in our community and in our Chamber, you can count on him to know (and share) all the positives about the program or event.”

The Quality and Excellence Award has been a tradition at Heartland Bank since 1994 and many of our employees proudly wear the pin each day that signifies this honor. Employees that have been given this award were chosen based on excellent customer service, being an example of a team player, helping other employees and exceeding the expectations of their job duties and responsibilities. Chuck was proud to be presented with the Quality and Excellence pin in October of 2008. To him, it means “giving your personal best each day and going above and beyond your normal required job functions.” According to Scott McComb, CEO of Heartland Bank, “Chuck’s energy is contagious. He is an excellent team leader, community activist and advocate. Heartland and the Westerville community as a whole are the beneficiaries of his team’s work.”

“My wife Julie (a Westerville native and local realtor) and I enjoy entertaining friends and family and would BBQ 365 days a year if I had the opportunity. Our family, including son Ryan and daughters Anna and Bria, looks forward to game nights listening to music, fishing, hiking, traveling and attending local sporting events,” Chuck said. “We’re very proud to be part of the Heartland Bank family, too.”

If you’re looking for a banking relationship that feels like family, ‘Come on over to Heartland.’
