Congratulations to this Month's Employee Spotlight: Joe Duffey

Saturday, December 12, 2015/Categories: Employee Spotlight, Heartland Bank, Products & Services

This month’s Employee Spotlight features Vice President, Director of Credit Administration, Joe Duffey. A native of Buffalo, NY and proud graduate of Cansius College, Joe is a self-professed sports fan who loves the Buckeyes, is an original Columbus Blue Jackets season ticket holder (PSL #46!), cheers on the Columbus Crew SC and after watching a game at The Big House in Ann Arbor, has added ‘Visit all Big Ten football stadiums’ to his bucket list.

In his fourth year as Director of Credit Administration, Joe works closely with the commercial lenders to underwrite loan requests, prepare monthly watch lists, analyze the Allowance for Loan Losses and review both commercial and residential appraisals. Based in the Westerville branch, he and his team (AVP Bob Mroczkowski and AVP Jennifer Ziegler) handle the daily administration of credit reviews and documentation for Heartland Bank’s $400 million commercial loan portfolio.

According to Scott McComb, Heartland Bank’s president and CEO, “Joe has a very challenging job in measuring the success in all of the bank’s loans. His mild manner, nurturing guidance and excellent teamwork make a tough job an enjoyable and successful one for the lending staff, management and the Board of Directors.”

The Quality & Excellence Award has been a tradition at Heartland Bank since 1994 and many of our employees proudly wear the pin each day that signifies that honor. Employees that have been given this award were chosen based on excellent customer service, being an example of a team player, helping other employees and exceeding the expectations of their job duties and responsibilities. Joe was proud to be presented with the Quality and Excellence pin in October of 2013. To him, it means “giving your best (110%) each and every day.”

Joe and his wife have been active in the First Presbyterian Church of Westerville for more than 30 years. In addition to serving on the personnel, Christian education and outreach committees, they both participate in various community efforts including Manna Café, Westerville Area Resource Ministry and collecting donations for the less fortunate in Pike County.

When asked about his favorite color, Joe responded “Pantone 541, which everyone knows is Heartland Bank blue.” Now that’s a dedicated employee! But then again, Heartland Bank is fortunate to have many well-trained and caring employees with unquestionable integrity, just like Joe. And when Joe mentions giving 110%, he means it. Come on over to Heartland and we’ll show you how we all give 110% every day!
