Celebrating 37 Years! Grove City Arts in the Alley

Sunday, September 11, 2016/Categories: Community

Grove City Arts in the AlleyCelebrating 37 years in 2016, Arts in the Alley is held the third weekend of September every year in downtown Grove City. Hosted by the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce (GCCC), more than 100 juried exhibitors display and sell fine art, photography, jewelry, crafts, fabric art, glasswork, pottery and wood creations. A variety of musical entertainment is also featured throughout the weekend – high school marching bands and show choirs, jazz, blues, classic rock, folk, gospel, country and much more.

2016 marks the 13th year that the GCCC has awarded the Helena McComb Floral Award as part of their annual prestigious Easel Awards. Named in honor of one of the festival co-founders (and late mother of current Chairman, President and CEO Scott McComb), this award honors Helena’s love of flowers. One entry that features a floral theme will be nominated from each of the five specialty shows and a $500 award will be presented to the final winner.

The award winning festival (City Scene Magazine’s 2013 Best Suburban Arts Festival) begins with the Arts in the Alley Parade, presented in partnership with the Grove City Girls Club, at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19. Children under 12 can use their imaginations to create free take-home arts and crafts at Kids Fun Street, located one street west of the Library off of Park Street. Food vendors, limited to local non-profit and community organizations, supply festival favorites such as chicken and noodles, fried bologna sandwiches, curly fries, funnel cakes and more.

Parking and Admission are free! So if you’d like to enjoy a fun weekend, come on over to Grove City’s historic Town Center, at the corner of Broadway and Park Streets on Saturday from 10am-8pm or Sunday from 11am-5pm. And, if you need sound banking advice, any day of the week, please stop at Grove City’s community bank, the Heartland branch on Old Stringtown Road. Shirley Spellman and her team will help you find the right path to success...
