Claylick Farm and Their Heartland Bank Agribusiness Partnership

Claylick Farm and Their Heartland Bank Agribusiness Partnership

It’s been several years since Dave Felumlee stepped away from his family’s dairy farm and opened his own operation, Claylick Run Angus Genetics in Newark. He began to learn the cattle business through a high school 4H project, and soon thereafter, purchased his first Angus heifers. The entire Felumlee clan, including parents Orville and Rachel (who have a separate 1,200 acre grain-farm operation) and his wife Dawn and kids Keri and Kacey, are proud caretakers of their family’s farm. Their years as dairy farmers have certainly contributed to their success at Claylick Run.

Today, 35 years later, the company offers the strategic and creative vision of an advertising agency, the technical expertise of an interactive agency and the in-house capabilities of a print production firm.

Agribusiness is Alive and Well at the Burkhart Family Farm

In 2006, Heartland Agribusiness clients Cindy and Steve Burkhart were not farming. Far from it. Cindy worked a public service job and Steve was a crop insurance adjuster. But they’d always dreamed about being able to work from home, side by side with their family, as full-time farmers. Reflecting back on their own upbringing on family farms, the couple decided to purchase a 266 acre plot of land in Norwich, Ohio and opened Burkhart Farms with their daughter and son-in-law. In 2013, the Burkharts built two cage free broiler barns and, and with Heartland Bank’s help, they recently added a third barn to their farm. They also grow hay, corn and soybeans as well as raise a small herd of beef cattle.
