Angie Stetzer shares her Heartland Story

Wednesday, February 9, 2022/Categories: Employee Spotlight

Heartland associates are proud to share their story. Often, their story includes an interesting hire process, a unique relationship, or a chance encounter. For Angie Stetzer, it includes a career path that has had many twists and turns until she settled where she was comfortable and contributing. This is part of being in the Heartland family – where associates are encouraged to explore their career path.

Angie shared, “In 2010, I was hired as a teller at the Heartland Bank Reynoldsburg Branch. I then transitioned to Small Business Administration loan processing but found that I missed the consistent customer interaction. A support position became available in our Client Services department, and I was offered the role that changed my career trajectory. I was promoted to Administrative Officer, Client Services Supervisor in 2017 and Assistant Vice President, Client Services Manager in 2020, which is the position I hold today.”

The Client Services department is the communication hub for Heartland. Angie explained, “The Client Services department is the primary point of contact for customers and acts as the liaison between clients and other lines of business. If a customer inquiry is related to a product or feature that we don’t typically handle, our team takes ownership of the issue and partners with other lines of business to provide efficient resolutions. I ensure that each customer receives the exemplary service that sets Heartland Bank apart from other institutions…” Angie’s team is tasked with maintaining and deepening the relationships that begin in the branches with the staff or lenders, or via online channels.

Her commitment to her staff and clients is admirable and undeniable. Working closely with the Treasury Management division, Angie ensures exceptional customer service through quality audits, team and one-on-one meetings, and on-demand coaching. Because she works with supportive leadership, Angie can create a purposeful bond with her staff thus translating through to the clients as her team is coached for success and empowerment.

When asked why a customer should choose Heartland over another bank, Angie answered, “Simply put, our people. Our people bleed Heartland 540 (the pantone code for Heartland blue). We care about our clients and the communities that we serve. To say that our clients are the ‘heart’ of Heartland Bank is not a cliché. It’s the way we approach each and every interaction. Our associates work night and day (literally) to provide unmatched, personalized service to our clients.”

Many associates at Heartland share Angie’s commitment to the client, but Angie has a deeper, emotional connection that can only come from years of service and real-world experiences.  “To me, the first customer of the day gets the same level of quality service as the last. Client Services is a busy area with associates going in many different directions in order to resolve customer issues. It is a fast-paced environment, but our team will not compromise the level of service that we provide.”

As a lifelong resident of Gahanna, Angie feels connected to the community as well, as Heartland has had a presence in Gahanna for nearly 25 years. She actively supports Faith Mission, Gahanna Residents in Need and CHA (Citizens for Humane Action) Animal Shelter. She is also committed to her family and home life. “I enjoy watching true crime documentaries, reading autobiographies, expanding my flower garden every Spring, and spending time with my husband, kids and grandson.”
